Getting Real About the High Price of Cheap Food - Time Magazine's Exposé on the State of Your Bacon 2009
Bryan W alsh and Time Magazine once again has delivered another Earth Friendly Exposé that focuses on the
TRUE HIGH Cost of Cheap Meat all those cheap $5 Super Hamburger Meals and cheap industrialized meat Americans love
to eat.

But how cheap is your meat? And more importantly, what critical facts did this otherwise excellent article omit?
1. The meat and dairy industries are responsible for creating Methane Gas, the deadliest Greenhouse Gas
on the planet. And yes, this does include the beef from Local, Organic,Free Range , Grass Feed Cows.
Just because the beef you eat is Local and/or Organic DOES NOT MEAN it is Methane Free! Kapish?!
For more info about Methane Gas and the Meat Industry, read the Environmental Classic Report,
Livestock's Long Shadow by the United Nations.
2. On average, it takes about 2,500 gallons of water to produce 1 POUND of ground beef.
3. Highlighting Mexican Fast Food Chain Chipotle as a role model, is questionable to say the least. Since
MacDonald's heavily invested in and until recently owned a large part of Chipotle. Even your Grandma knows
that MacDonald's is not Eco Friendly! Once I saw the name Chipotle in the article, I wondered "is this some kind
of sick joke? It was MacDonald's who put Cheap Meat on the map and in the market place. Surely, Time's r
eaders know about the Chipotle's MacDonald’s connection. They are well informed."
4. Plant Based diets are the healthiest diets for humans to consume. With the raging health care debates
we as a society, should do everything possible to PREVENT diseases and bad health. Read the facts for
yourself.
How is all the Methane Gas, all the water used to produce beef and health care cost related to eating beef Sustainable?
If Local, Organic Beef is Sustainable and healthy, then "Light Cigarettes" are less harmful to your health than
regular cigarettes. Since smoke from light cigarettes feels smoother and lighter on the throat and chest;
Light Cigarettes must be healthier than regular cigarettes, right? Wrong.
The article is dead wrong (no pun intended) when it stated "no one goes to farmers' markets for bargains." Are you kidding me?
The only farmer's market (and I've been to many across the U.S.) that this statement comes close to being true,
is the
, located in beautiful San Francisco. Click here to find an affordable Farmer's Markets near you.
And for those on a tight budget, many Farmer's Markets take Food Stamps.
PS - Even with all its flaws, this article is a step in the right direction for those wanting to transition to a fully Eco Friendly diet.
